VRS is dedicated to educating the public about the abilities and needs of people with vision loss.  We offer speakers and in-service training on eye health, vision loss and vision rehabilitation.  Seminars such as What is Low Vision? teach the public about the difference between normal aging of the eyes vs. low vision.  We also provide a seminar to teach others how to interact with a visually impaired person.  Another option is a Sensory Deprivation Workshop, where attendees can experience what it is like to be visually impaired.  They will go through a variety of exercises such as pouring a drink and buttering bread while blindfolded.  They will even experience walking with a white cane.  It is an "eye-opening" experience.

We can custom build a seminar or workshop to meet your needs. We have professional staff as well as speakers who can share their personal stories of living life with visual loss.

VRS offers services to schools, professional and community organizations, church groups, senior service organizations, assisted-living facilities and other social service providers.
